The Dining table at Nohant, George Sand's house. The novelist entertained her many guests around this table. Liszt, Flaubert, Delacroix and Chopin were just some of them. The painting shows two leather upholstered chairs around a dining table set in the fashion of the day with two pot pourris, an oval dish and a large table centre-piece of a flower still life moulded in majolica and highly coloured, which was very typical of the period. The glassware was a gift from Frederic Chopin to his hostess and lover.
